Hi little artist! Today we are going to draw a monarch butterfly, one of the most beautiful butterflies in the world. With its large orange wings, it is a true king of the garden. Follow the steps and before you know it, it will be fluttering right across your paper!
1
Draw a small circle for the head and draw a straight guide line downwards.
2
Under the head, create two ovals for the thorax and the abdomen of the butterfly.
3
From the center, draw two diagonal lines upwards for the top of the wings.
4
Finish the large upper wings by drawing curved lines back towards the body.
5
Now draw two smaller, round shapes at the bottom for the hindwings.
6
Give the butterfly two graceful antennae on its head and make the body slightly thicker.
7
Draw the lines inside the wings; this looks a bit like a spider web.
8
Add small circles along the edges of the wings for the famous spots.
9
Erase the guide lines and draw some grass under your butterfly to finish it off.
