Drawing a happy mallard in 8 steps

Birds
Hi young artist! Today we are going to draw a beautiful mallard, which is a male duck with those lovely colors. Grab your pencil and eraser, because we're going to get started together. Using simple shapes, you'll conjure a duck onto your paper in no time!
1
Basic shapes of a duck: a small circle above a large horizontal oval.
Draw a small circle for the head and a large horizontal oval for the duck's body.
2
Guide lines for the neck and the start of the wing on the duck's body.
Connect the head and the body with two curved lines for the neck and draw a guide line for the wing.
3
Drawing of a duck's beak and the first lines for the legs.
Sketch the beak at the front of the head and place short lines for the legs.
4
Give the wing a nice shape and draw the back of the duck where the tail will be.
5
Details of the duck's legs with webbed feet and an eye in the head.
Draw the webbed feet at the bottom of the legs and add a small round eye.
6
Beak with details and the first tail feathers of the mallard.
Finish the beak with a small nostril and draw the first feathers on the tail.
7
Feather patterns on the wings and tail of the drawn duck.
Draw extra lines in the wings and tail to make the feathers look real.
8
The completed drawing of a mallard with background details like clouds.
Erase the guide lines and draw some clouds or water around your mallard.
