Drawing a beautiful common loon in 8 steps

Birds
Hi little artist! Today we are going to draw a common loon, a bird that is great at swimming and diving. We start with simple shapes like circles and ovals. Grab your pencil and eraser, and let's get started together!
1
Basic shapes of a common loon: a large oval and a small circle.
Draw a large horizontal oval for the body and a small circle above it for the head.
2
Guide lines for the neck and a straight line for the bird's beak.
Connect the head and the body with two curved lines for the neck and draw a line for the beak.
3
The outline of the common loon's back and tail drawn with lines.
Finish the shape of the back and the tail with smooth lines at the rear.
4
Sketch of the wing on the body and the shape of the beak.
Now draw the shape of the wing on the side and give the beak some more thickness.
5
Drawing of the legs under the bird and a sharp beak.
Add the legs under the body and make the beak nice and pointy.
6
Detail of the eye and the first lines of the feather pattern.
Draw a small round eye and start with the patterns on the wings.
7
Detailed pattern of feathers and dots on the bird's back.
Finish the feathers by drawing small squares and lines on the back.
8
The finished common loon swimming in the water without guide lines.
Erase the guide lines and draw some ripples in the water around your common loon.
