Drawing a Happy Hippo: Step-by-Step Drawing Lesson
Animals
Hi there, little artist! Today we are going to create a big and friendly hippo on paper. Hippos might seem tricky, but with circles and ovals, anyone can do it. Grab your pencil and eraser, and let's get started together!
1
Draw a large horizontal oval for the belly and a smaller oval for the head.
2
Connect the two ovals with a sturdy neck and draw a small line for the tail.
3
Draw guide lines for where the legs and the large snout should go.
4
Now sketch the four thick legs and make two small arches for the ears.
5
Make the snout rounder and give the ears an extra line on the inside.
6
Draw small hooves at the bottom of the legs and make the tail a bit thicker.
7
Draw two small dots for the eyes and two holes for the nose.
8
Look closely at your entire drawing and make the lines of the neck and back nice and smooth.
9
Erase the guide lines and draw a line for the ground it is standing on.
