Drawing a stately grey heron in 9 steps

Birds
Hi young artist! Today we are going to draw a grey heron, that bird with the long legs you often see standing by the water. With a few circles and lines, you'll conjure a real fisherman onto your paper in no time. Grab your pencil and eraser, and let's get started quickly!
1
Two ovals for the head and body of a heron with a slanted line.
Draw a small oval for the head and a large one for the body, with a slanted line for the beak.
2
A curved line connects the head and the body of the bird.
Connect the head and the body with a curved line for the neck and draw a small line for the tail.
3
Long lines for the legs and a start for the beak of the heron.
Now place two long, straight lines under the body for the legs and make the beak line slightly longer.
4
The neck and legs of the heron get more shape and thickness.
Make the neck and the legs a bit thicker by drawing extra lines around them.
5
Detail of the head with an eye and a sharp beak.
Draw a small round eye in the head and give the beak a sharp point.
6
The wing on the body and the toes at the bottom of the legs.
Draw the wing on the side of the body and add long toes to the bottom of the legs.
7
Details of the tail feathers and the joints in the legs.
Give the tail some extra feathers and make the heron's knees a little bit thicker.
8
Small lines that look like feathers on the neck and wing.
Draw small dashes on the wings and the neck for the texture of the feathers.
9
The finished drawing of the grey heron on the ground.
Erase the guide lines and draw a line for the ground where the heron is standing.
