Drawing a cockroach in 9 simple steps

Animals
Hi little artist! Today we are going to draw a very special creepy-crawly: the cockroach. Although they can run super fast, luckily they will stay still on your paper. Grab your pencil and eraser, and let's get started together!
1
Basic shape of a cockroach with an oval and a center line.
Draw a large oval for the body and place a guide line in the middle to keep everything straight.
2
Sketch of the head and thorax on top of the large body.
Create a smaller shape on top for the thorax and draw a small circle for the head.
3
Clear lines of the head and the shield of the cockroach.
Now draw the final shapes of the head and the sturdy shield on the back.
4
Guide lines for the six legs and the two long antennae.
Place thin, diagonal lines on the sides where the legs and the long antennae should go.
5
Beginning of the legs and the antennae on the head.
Draw the first thicker parts of the legs and start on the base of the antennae.
6
Lines for the wings and small circles for the eyes.
Sketch the lines for the wings on the back and place two small dots for the eyes.
7
Finished wings and long, curved antennae.
Now finish the wings completely and make the antennae nice, long, and graceful.
8
Details of the legs with small spines.
Add small hairs and details to the legs so it looks like it can really walk on something.
9
The completed drawing of a cockroach with a shadow.
Make the outer lines darker, erase the guide lines, and draw a shadow on the ground.
