Drawing a dragonfly in 8 simple steps

Animals
Hi little artist! Today we are going to draw a super fast flyer: the dragonfly. With its large wings and long body, it looks beautiful. Grab your pencil and let's get started together!
1
Basic shapes of a dragonfly: a small circle and a larger oval as guide lines.
Draw a small circle for the head and a larger oval underneath for the dragonfly's thorax.
2
A long tail and a diagonal line for the branch the dragonfly is resting on.
Draw a long, thin tail under the thorax and add a diagonal line for the twig.
3
The body and the branch get more shape and volume.
Make the shapes of the body a bit firmer and draw the thickness of the branch the dragonfly is sitting on.
4
Guide lines for the four wings and the start of the legs.
Draw four diagonal guide lines for the large wings and place small strokes for the legs.
5
The first wings and back legs of the dragonfly become visible.
Sketch the large, narrow ovals for the hind wings and draw the back legs.
6
All four wings and the legs gripping the branch are now drawn.
Now draw the front wings and add the legs that are holding onto the branch.
7
Details such as large eyes and rings on the abdomen of the dragonfly.
Add large eyes to the head and draw small lines on the long body for extra detail.
8
The finished dragonfly with detailed wings on a wooden branch.
Make the outlines darker, draw veins in the wings, and carefully erase the guide lines.
